ARTIST PROFILE

Wendy Badham is one of the founding members of RICArts and has been participating and painting on a weekly basis since its conception in 2003. Wendy remembers RICArts starting out with a handful of members at the Russell Island RSL Club, where long term friendships started.

“I was always interested in art. My father was an artist and I used to enjoy watching him paint Tewkesbury Abbey in England. He was a qualified engineer and draftsman”, Wendy recalls.  Wendy studied art at the Tewkesbury Secondary Modern School, Gloucestershire, England. For many years she worked in photography, and was inspired by natural settings and landscapes. “Following my retirement, I had more time to devote to painting and to attend workshops on various mediums, including oils, water colours, acrylics and pastels.”  She took instruction from working artists including Richard Comport, Jenny Rumney, Carol Leanne, Thelma Bennet, Geoff Smiley, Joan Brennan, Laurie Eastough, Marion Hughes and Maxine Thompson.

Wendy's paintings were included in the following exhibits:

2014 July, RICARTS Exhibition, Russell Island Bowls Club

2014 June, Community Arts Exhibition, Russell Island Community Centre

2013 October, Focus. Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland & Capalaba

2012 October, Focus. Redland Art Gallery, Cleveland & Capalaba
